The APCBBC (Asia Pacific Cord Blood Bank Consortium) was established in 2002 with a mission to promote the concept and elevate the significance of cord blood stem cell banking and therapy to health professionals, parents in the community and the general public throughout the region.
Annual meetings of the APCBBC bring together the region's foremost and leading cord blood stem cell banking companies throughout the Asia Pacific region. Current member companies of the consortium are Cryosite (Australia), CRYOLIFE (Hong Kong), StemCell Institute (Japan), Lifecord (Korea), StemLife (Malaysia), CordLife (Singapore), Bionet (Taiwan), THAI StemLife (Thailand), MekoStem (Vietnam), StemOne Biologicals (India), Lazaron Biotechnologies (South Africa), PT CordLife (Indonesia) and Cellsafe (Egypt). The APCBBC's first forum was inaugurated in Taiwan in 2003, followed by Singapore (2004), Korea (2005), Malaysia (2006), Australia (2007), Japan (2008), Thailand (2009) , Hong Kong (2010) and India (2011).
The APCBBC offers member cord blood stem cell bankers the opportunity to meet, discuss and collaborate to address current issues surrounding the industry’s development around the region. The forum will address industry perspectives, medical breakthroughs and the applications of cord blood stem cells in the region today and in the future. Industry perspectives include how cord blood stem cell banking has provided for successful patient transplantations and enabled doctors to offer their patients stem cell therapy as an option, and how the industry is perceived by the general public.
